Privacy Policy

Effective October 15, 2026

Your privacy is important to Collins IP Law. This notice explains who we are, how and why we collect, store, use, and share personal information, your rights in relation to your personal information, and how to contact us or a supervisory authority if you have a complaint.

By using trademarks.collinsiplaw.com, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree with any part of it, please do not use this website or submit personal information to us.

1. Who We Are

Collins IP Law, a sole proprietorship of Michelle N. Collins ("we," "us," "our"), operates trademarks.collinsiplaw.com and collects, uses, and is responsible for certain personal information about you.

No attorney-client relationship. Submitting information through this website, our chatbot, a booking form, or an intake form does not create an attorney-client relationship. An attorney-client relationship begins only when we agree in writing to represent you. Please do not send confidential or time-sensitive information until then.

2. Children's Privacy

This website and our services are not intended for anyone under the age of 13. Children under 13 may not use any interactive part of this website, including filling out forms, booking a consultation, or using the chatbot. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If we learn that we have collected information from a child under 13, we will delete it.

3. The Personal Information We Collect and Use

a. Information you give us

We collect personal information you choose to provide when you download our free trademark guide, book a consultation, complete an intake form, use our chatbot, make a payment, or contact us by email or phone. Depending on what you do, this may include your name, email address, phone number, mailing address, business name, information about your business and the trademark you want to protect, and the contents of your messages to us. You do not need to provide any personal information to simply visit this website.

Payments are processed by third-party payment processors. We do not store full credit card numbers on this website.

b. Information collected automatically

When you visit, we and our service providers may collect technical information such as your IP address, browser type, device and operating system, the pages you view, and the links you click. We use cookies (small files your browser saves) and similar technologies to measure website traffic, understand how visitors use the site, and measure the performance of our advertising. These tools include Google Analytics, Jetpack Stats, TruConversion (which records how visitors scroll, click, and move through our pages so we can improve the site), and advertising pixels from Meta (Facebook and Instagram) and Google Ads. These third parties may collect information about your online activity over time and across different websites.

When you first visit, we ask for your consent before using cookies for analytics or advertising. You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie Settings link at the bottom of each page. You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings, though some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.

Our website does not currently respond to "Do Not Track" signals from browsers.

If you are located in the European Economic Area ("EEA"), we are regulated under the General Data Protection Regulation and are the controller of your personal information for purposes of that law. If you are located in the United Kingdom ("UK"), we are regulated under the UK General Data Protection Regulation ("UK GDPR").

c. Information from other sources

When we evaluate or handle a trademark matter, we may obtain information about you and your business from public records, including the databases of the United States Patent and Trademark Office ("USPTO"), and from people who refer you to us.

d. How and why we use your personal information

We use personal information to:

e. Who we share your personal information with

We do not sell your personal information.

We share personal information with service providers who help us run our practice and this website, only as needed for the purposes above. These include providers of website hosting, email, scheduling and text messaging, chat, online forms and client management, client portals, electronic signatures, payment processing, and analytics and advertising.

Information included in a trademark application, such as the owner's name and address, becomes part of the public USPTO record when the application is filed.

We may transfer personal information if our practice is merged with or acquired by another firm. We may also release personal information as needed to enforce our terms and policies, protect our rights or the rights and safety of others, or comply with applicable laws, regulations, or professional obligations.

Some recipients may be based outside the EEA or UK. For how we handle these transfers, see Section 4 below.

We will not otherwise share your personal information with any third party without your consent.

f. Whether you have to provide information

Some services require certain information. For example, we need your name and email address to schedule a consultation, and your business and trademark details to prepare an application. We will tell you when information is required.

g. How long we keep your personal information

We keep client records for five years after a matter ends. We may keep basic information about prospective clients as needed to check for conflicts of interest. Otherwise, we keep non-client personal information until you ask us to delete it or unsubscribe from our emails, which you may do at any time.

4. Transfers of Your Information Outside the EEA and UK

This website is operated in the United States, and the service providers we share information with are also located in the United States. If you are located in the EEA, the UK, or elsewhere outside the United States, information you provide will be transferred to the United States. By using this website or providing your information, you consent to this transfer.

The European Commission has not determined that the United States provides a level of data protection equivalent to the EEA or UK. Any transfer of your personal information will rely on the derogation in Article 49 of the General Data Protection Regulation, which permits occasional transfers concerning a limited number of individuals.

Except as described above, we will not transfer your personal information outside the EEA or UK, or to any international organization.

5. Your Rights

6. Keeping Your Personal Information Secure

We use appropriate security measures to prevent personal information from being accidentally lost, used, or accessed in an unauthorized way. We limit access to personal information to those with a genuine business need to know it, and anyone who handles it does so only as authorized and subject to a duty of confidentiality.

We have procedures to deal with any suspected data security breach and will notify you and any applicable authority where we are legally required to do so. No security measure is absolute, and we cannot guarantee the security of information you send to us.

7. Links to Other Sites

This website links to third-party sites and services, such as our booking page and the USPTO. Those sites have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their content or practices.
